I am going to be a published author!

This morning Christian Faith Publishing called me to tell me they want to partner with me in publishing my first children's book. What does this mean? You typically have three ways you can publish. The first is a traditional book detail where you get an advance from the publisher and then royalties of generally between 10-15% of each book sold. The second way to solely self-publish yourself. This can be costly ($6,000 ish dollars), but then you get all the royalties minus production and shipping... the downside being that all of the marketing and publicity is also your responsibility to pay for and manage. The third way is to partner in self publishing with a publishing company. With this option you contribute a modest amount ($2,000-3,500) for initial formatting and production, but they cover the rest, all of the publicity, all of the marketing, and distribution. Then the kicker is you get all of the royalties except shipping and their $.50 fee per book. I chose option three as I already work full time and need the majority of the administrative process handled by someone else. All of this started because my friends and family believed in me and the inspiration of my sweet pig and her babies at my favorite time of year... Christmas!
